Hello all you wonderful art journalers you! I'm so excited you're here for todays art journaling adventure! I cannot wait to see all the magic you've created. As always, the link up is at the bottom.I actually stamped the background of these pages weeks ago and have been waiting on the right bit of inspiration to use them. I was a little annoyed at how expensive some stamps out there are because they are so simple. So I thought, I'll fix that. So I pulled out my handy foam-with-sticky-back sheets, cut the shapes I wanted and stuck them onto a stamp mount I got for a quarter. The foam absorbs the ink somewhat but makes a pretty great quality stamp and there's obviously no cleaning involved and they are reusable. Win, win, win!Wander art journal by lauren likes For this page, I cut a simple triangle stamp and just repeated it. I printed out a photo and attached that Wonder & Wander phrase that I printed from the VRSLY app. (I'm obsessed with this app!)Reading art journal by lauren likesI made a simple + stamp for this one. I've been really drawn to the simple, graphic, geometric shapes lately. I added a photo that has been sitting in my art journaling stash + a recycled paint strip and a Studio Calico card that I don't like enough to put in my Project Life and listed all the books I've read this year (full review to come!). Easy and a good way to document my reading list.Sabines prompt this month was about adventure, in life and in art. What would you do if you lived more adventurously? And the art challenge was to try a new technique. I found this photo of these dancers and I was immediately transported back to my prima ballerina awkward dancer days. I so intensely loved this passion, but was never the best, so I was intensely fearful. I was afraid of getting hurt, of committing, of being embarrassed, of looking dumb. So I never fully committed. (I also wasn't great, but that's a different discussion) Whether my life plan was to be on Broadway or just enjoy a hobby, I was too afraid. I graduated high school and bowed out without really ever giving it my all. I regret that. I would have very, very likely failed and never ended up on Broadway (Im all about self-actualization and honesty here), but that's not the point. The point was to BE BRAVE. So that is what I would like to do. (I have seen a resounding theme in these journals lately) I would like to live without fear or self-consciousness.Adventure art journal by lauren likesFor my new art technique I tried nail polish marbling with vellum. Spoiler alert: it didn't work. Well it did, but it was bad. But marbling the thicker cardstock worked amazingly! I love the way it turned out and I loved the challenge of trying a new medium and having to figure out how it works (water temperature is SO tricky with this) and using my hands in a different way than usual. Bravo Sabine, Bravo! As always, the amazing Elise was one step ahead of me and had this awesome tutorial that I referenced.Marbling by lauren likesNow! Show us what YOU made!Link up here:
