Our wonderful friends, Ben and Alex, were looking to get rid of their old, giant bookshelf thing. So, in the spirit of true upcyclers we snatched them up and had a great vision for them, we had no idea how fantastic they would actually turn out!

Really all we did was simply spray paint them, add new knobs and change their purpose up just a bit and Ta Da! Our living room is complete! We have some where to store books, games, movies, pretty little trinkets and our TV. Our only problem was the bookshelf is made out of particle board and we used the cheap spray paint, therefore we spray painted and spray painted and spray painted. We eventually lost track of how much money we spent on spray paint, it got out of control. The last thing we did was seal them with a clear gloss paint. A word to the wise: don't be cheap, buy the good spray paint. And invest in a spray paint gun.

This is one of my favorite shelves! These are time capsules we made using mason jars and things we picked up on our trips.

We use this as a serving tray for drinks, chips, etc when we have people over. It was made to be a desk, which could also be useful if we lived somewhere without room for an actual desk. Also, notice the splotchiness of the paint? USE BETTER PAINT!
