Get Messy Art Journal Pages by Lauren-LikesThis year I have continued to surprise myself at how much I do love this art form. My goal this year is work in my art journal everyday, not complete a page a day, but to work in this art form in some way. Some days that is just cutting magazine pages, some days it is just prepping a page by adding gesso and letting it dry. I have learned a lot about myself and about creating. I'm sharing those thoughts in my newsletter this weekend, so be sure you are signed up. But for you, I wanted to share some of the pages I have completed so far this year.I share my pages first on instagram @laurenlikesblog and share some fun, in process, behind the scenes photos of them too. You can follow me and follow the hashtag where I am collecting them #yearoftheartjournalGet Messy is in the Season of Happy and I love it. The bright colors, the encouragement, it's all amazing. Even though I've been struggling with winter to stay positive and to leave the house, completing these pages and looking for the way light overcomes darkness has been an immense blessing to me. I am currently using a journal by my friend Kate, see more of her work here. Get Messy Art Journal Pages by Lauren-LikesThis page was inspired by Essie and her amazingly magical flowers and collages. Then I just started writing and out of it came one of my favorite things I've ever written. A poem of sorts and truly I had no idea it rhymed until I typed it out this way. It reads:A girl in a flower garden is a beauty to behold. Her smile, her charm, her wit, her eyes all aglow.A girl in a flower garden will stretch to the sun and drink of the rain. She will commune with the earth and grow like a grain. She will feed those around her with the fruit that she bears.A girl in a flower garden will put life in the air.She will give joy to the sun and all those who stare. Her scent will draw nature and from her leaves new life will be there.A girl in a flower garden is why we are here.Get Messy Art Journal Pages by Lauren-Likes Get Messy Art Journal Pages by Lauren-Likes Get Messy Art Journal Pages by Lauren-LikesThis page was inspired by a prompt by Jules. I'm really into printing photos in black and white on normal computer paper right now. Get Messy Art Journal Pages by Lauren-Likes Get Messy Art Journal Pages by Lauren-Likes

This guy is the lion and the warrior. He is the one thing I regret about moving to Korea: that he doesn't know us and the way we love him the way I deeply wish he could understand and that I don't know all of his warrior ways. He is a lion and this world will hear him roar. Some pages have pretty paintings and some have all the feels. This is one the latter.

I made this page for multiple reasons. 1. I needed to create a page quick for a special project for @getmessyartjournal 2. Once I had it finished it looked SO MUCH like a page @cayleegrey would make I knew I needed to keep the journaling simple the way she does. 3. Because well art it out. Right? As mentioned, I've really struggling with motivation and future thoughts and needed some light and of course I found it in the perfect place. So in love with this page. So so so.

Get Messy Art Journal is an art journaling program that is a school, art playground and family. We are a group of like minded art journalers who have come together under this art form to learn, share, practice our skills and push past our creative limits with hopes to inspire. Our community values consistent creating, encouragement, support and trying new things. We would love to have you join us as a member of Get Messy Art Journal.
