Travel Time Capsules Season 2

DIY

Make a travel time capsule of your adventures. Tutorial on Lauren-Likes BlogWe've been home from our New Zealand trip for about 12 hours and I've already updated our travel time capsules with all the goodies from our trip! I wrote this post years ago when we lived in the states and it has been really popular and we have only grown to love those jars more and more each year. Sadly, when we moved we left the jars in storage and they are one of the things I truly wish we had brought with us. But! We travel so much now, our little collection of jars here in Korea has grown so rapidly, I actually need to buy three more jars! Since we have started Season 2 of our collection I thought it was time to update the post. Make a travel time capsule of your adventures. Tutorial on Lauren-Likes Blog

How to make your own adventure time capsules

Step 1: Collect small, fun things on your trip. Preferably free things.Step 2: Put them all in a jar.Step 3: (optional, but highly encouraged) Label each jar with the trip name or location.Step 4: Display them and get all dreamy-eyed when you see them and remember your wonderful adventure. Make a travel time capsule of your adventures. Tutorial on Lauren-Likes BlogI haven't decided yet how I am going to label these jars, but I need to ASAP because I've already started second guessing where each jar is from. Important note: These do NOT have to be all beach focused. I currently have two jars I need to make that have nothing to do with the beach, we just happen to go to beaches often. Make a travel time capsule of your adventures. Tutorial on Lauren-Likes Blog

Tips for collecting items for your jars

  • Carry a few small ziplock bags on your trip with you designated for jar filling
  • Think small! Make sure the items will fit into your jars
  • Sand is a great filler or base just make sure to get enough. (You can see that some of my jars don't have enough or have way too much)
  • Add in little bits and pieces from your trip such as ticket stubs, business cards, coins, money, wristbands, etc. Nothing is too uncool to go in the jar
  • Stock up on jars if you are worried that they will stop making them, if you are concerned about them all matching, or use something you know will never go out of production like a mason jar
  • Additional jar ideas: Coins from around the world, movie stubs from all your date nights

Make a travel time capsule of your adventures. Tutorial on Lauren-Likes BlogWe love these jars and I think that making these with kids would be incredibly fun. They are the perfect souvenir that is free and always matches the decor. If you make some I would love to see! Tag me on instagram @laurenlikesblog.
