Vintage Lamp Upcycle

DIY

Hello! The Hooper's here! One of our favorite things to do is sit in bed and read a good book together at the end of a long day. Well, when I say together, I mean Terrell reading a music book about piano techniques and me reading anything from Nicholas Sparks to Shane Claiborne (classy-I know). But to do this you need light! And this is the light we had.....

And were sharing by passing it back and forth across the bed.....

So I went on a mad lamp hunt to our very favorite place to shop, Habitat for Humanity and scored 2 of these bad boys for only 7$ a piece!!

And since we Love, with a capital L, Love spray paint, I knew just what to do. I picked a pretty aqua blue Krylon brand spray paint that worked on glass and would compliment the greens and browns in our room and I went to work! First I cleaned the glass really well, then I used painters tape to tape off all the wiring and such and then we headed outside!

All we had to do was spray on a few coats of the paint evenly and within minutes we were done! VIOLA!

We then searched high and low for some modern shades and found these at Lowes for 10$ each. Making our total cost 37$ for 2 new lamps.

3$: Spray paint

14$: Lamps

20$: Shades

We let them dry, put them in place and now there can be light....and yes we love lamp :)
